This calculator finds how many fence posts are needed for a given fence length and post spacing, adding one extra post to account for both ends of the run.
How the calculation works
Posts needed = ceil(Fence length ÷ Post spacing) + 1. The +1 accounts for the starting post; without it, you'd have enough posts for the gaps but be missing the very first post.
Example
A 100 ft fence with posts spaced every 8 ft: ceil(100 ÷ 8) + 1 = ceil(12.5) + 1 = 13 + 1 = 14 posts.
